At its March 19 meeting the Boyle County Board of Education unanimously approved an amended 2025–26 calendar that converts several snow/weather days into instructional days, moves Feb. 16 and March 16 from no-school to instructional days, changes preschool’s last day, and sets staff closing and professional development days.
Specifically, the minutes list snow/weather days on Jan. 26, Jan. 29, Jan. 30, Feb. 4 and Feb. 5; they record that Feb. 16 and March 16 were changed from no school to regular instructional days, preschool’s last day changed from May 21 to May 14, the last day for students is May 22 and the closing day for staff is May 26 with May 27–28 set as professional development days. The amendment reduces instructional days from 173 to 171.
The board also voted unanimously to approve a district-proposed decrease in Boyle County preschool tuition for the 2026–27 school year. The minutes include a breakdown of current per-week full-time rates and discounted staff rates (for 2025–26 the minutes show $175 per week for full-time, non-qualifying 4‑year‑olds and $87.50 for full-time qualifying children, with staff discounted rates listed). The minutes present the district’s stated purposes for the change: to remain competitive with the Boyle County Early Learning Center, to recruit and retain qualified staff, and to address inflation and supply costs.
Why this matters: Calendar changes affect families’ schedules and instructional minutes; preschool tuition changes affect family costs and the district’s preschool program operations.
What’s next: The amended calendar and tuition schedule will be implemented for the remainder of 2025–26 and for the 2026–27 preschool year as shown in the board materials.
