Boyle County board approves 2024–25 audit, honors student athletes and programs

The Boyle County Board of Education unanimously approved the district audit for the 2024–25 school year at its March 19 meeting after auditor Denise M. Keene reported an unmodified opinion on both the financial statements and compliance for all major programs.

Keene told the board that the audit opinion on the financial statements and program compliance was unmodified; the board voted to accept the audit on a motion by Ruth Ann Elliott, seconded by Cara Adkins.

The approval came as Superintendent Mark Wade and principal David Christopher also briefed the board on end-of-year dates for seniors and led the board in recognizing recent student and team achievements across the district. The minutes list multiple honors: Boyle County High School girls basketball (45th District champions, several regional honors and individual player recognitions); boys basketball regional finishes; state-best finishes by the swim team; historic regional and state placings for wrestling programs at multiple levels; regional SkillsUSA winners; middle school Math Counts and track successes; and All-State band selections for middle school students.

Why this matters: An unmodified audit opinion signals that the auditor found the district’s financial statements presented fairly and that the district complied with requirements for major federal and state programs in the audit year. The recognitions highlight a string of school-year competitive successes the district said are notable for student morale and community pride.

The board also recorded the superintendent’s announcements of senior events, including Senior Awards Night on May 13, prom on May 16, Baccalaureate on May 17 and graduation on May 22.
