Committee members discussed an open accounts-and-benefits position and whether to rehire. Director Wahl said the clinic hired an accounting clerk who now handles many financial responsibilities and that about half of the accounts-and-benefits workload already falls under a contract with Melanie Patton. Wahl said she is "not convinced we need to actually spend the money on the other administrative position" and prefers to rebalance duties rather than add a salaried hire at this time.
Wahl noted that credentialing, travel and housing duties were previously shifted among positions and that Medicaid assistance and travel-approval functions would remain available to patients even if the vacant post is not refilled. The committee did not make any final hiring decision; Wahl said the staffing plan remains under review.
Next steps: Clinic administration will continue to evaluate workload distribution and the committee will be kept informed if a new hiring recommendation is proposed.
