Chase County commissioners approve claims, add authorized signer and appoint new highway superintendent

The Chase County Commissioners approved a full claims docket and several administrative personnel actions at their April 14 meeting. Commissioner Jacci Brown moved to approve claims and payroll, and the Board voted unanimously to accept a grand total of $368,258.72 covering General, Road, Ambulance, Hospital and other funds.
The Board also voted to add Chairman Kurt Bernhardt as an authorized signer on the Chase County Imprest checking account. In personnel actions, the Board unappointed Anthony Krajewski from the position of Chase County Highway Superintendent effective May 1, 2026, and appointed Assistant Highway Superintendent Richard DeWester (Class A License S-1761) to that role effective the same date; all motions carried 3-0.
Commissioners approved the minutes of the March 24, 2026 meeting earlier in the session and directed County Attorney Burke to review and update the interlocal agreement with the Village of Wauneta related to EMS building cooperation. Chairman Bernhardt adjourned the meeting at 10:53 a.m.
