Auglaize County board holds executive session on employee complaint; administrator reports demolition and grant deadlines

The Auglaize County Board of Commissioners entered an executive session at 9:29 a.m. on April 9 to discuss a complaint against a public employee and returned to open session at 9:39 a.m. with no action taken, the minutes show.

Commissioner Douglas A. Spencer moved to enter the executive session; Commissioner David Bambauer seconded. Administrator Erica L. Preston and Julie Gossard, director of the Auglaize County Department of Job and Family Services, were invited to attend. Chairman John Bergman recorded the roll call with all three commissioners voting yes.

Later in the morning Administrator Preston provided a series of routine operational updates to the board. She said Vancrest has communicated that a reimbursement agreement will be finalized for execution, and she reported that the demolition of 120 W. Main Street in Cridersville is complete and that the contractor had applied grass seed to the lot. Preston also said Brownfield demolition grant reports are due April 10 and that she was finalizing details for on-time submission.

Other items Preston raised included a request to update the board’s official photograph, the resignation of a member of the county veterans board, receipt of an appeal to the dismissal of a former county employee’s unemployment claim, a complaint concerning a county official’s response to a public records request, and updates received from the dog warden regarding the county’s dangerous dog law.

The board heard a monthly update from Solid Waste Coordinator Alexa Schwaderer and Rob Egbert of the Solid Waste Department at 10:00 a.m.; the minutes record that the meeting took place but do not include detailed notes of that update in the public synopsis.

With no further business, President John Bergman adjourned the meeting at 11:30 a.m.
