The Auglaize County Board of Commissioners voted to approve a package of resolutions and routine personnel items during its April 7, 2026 meeting.
Commissioner David Bambauer moved “to approve the resolutions as presented,” and Commissioner Douglas A. Spencer seconded; the items were distributed for each commissioner’s vote and execution. President John Bergman presided over the session in the Commissioners’ Chambers.
The measures presented to the board included certifying the public notice for an Early Notice and Public Review for a proposed activity in a 100-/500-year floodplain under the Ohio Department of Development PY2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Flexible Grant Program (#26-136); approving a software license agreement and an application hosting agreement with Right Stuff Software Corporation for the Department of Job & Family Services (#26-137 and #26-138); ratifying personnel actions including the promotion of Angie Swinehart and the employment of Hallie Voisin in Job & Family Services (#26-139 and #26-144); authorizing a project for Resource Recycling Systems, Inc. to change a generation fee to a designation fee (#26-140); amending the annual appropriation and authorizing a transfer of funds as requested by Job & Family Services (#26-141 and #26-142); approving a gutter project at the Title/BMV Building (#26-143); and recognizing April as Child Abuse Prevention Month (#26-145).
Erica L. Preston, the county administrator, briefed the board on several operational matters. She said Eagon & Associates will execute a contract with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for “option 1” of a compliance monitoring approach and that demolition of the Acres site has begun; the contractor will place salvaged bricks from the structure outside the fenced demolition area for public access. Preston also reported that New Knoxville Supply will start sewer line work at the Group Home site on April 14, 2026, and that the Group Home is supplying a water source for contractors.
Preston said Judge Spees provided clarification on allowable uses of the Juvenile Rehab Fund (047) and that a structural engineer inspection of the courthouse has been requested to assess flaking brick. The board approved a Solid Waste District request to purchase two new trailers and to remove two older trailers from service. Preston also presented a resume for an open housekeeping position and noted progress on identifying a potential candidate for the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board.
At 9:21 a.m., Commissioner Douglas A. Spencer moved to enter executive session “for the purpose of a complaint against a public official,” with Administrator Preston invited to attend. Commissioner Bambauer seconded the motion, and the board returned to regular session at 9:40 a.m. with no action taken.
At 1:00 p.m., the board and Administrator Preston met with Sheriff Michael Vorhees, members of the Maintenance Department and representatives of New Knoxville Supply at the Law Enforcement Center to discuss plumbing issues at that building.
President Bergman adjourned the meeting at 2:30 p.m. and the minutes were signed by Clerk Bobbi Donovan. The resolutions and full texts are recorded in the board’s journal.
