The Auglaize County Board of County Commissioners met in regular session on April 28, 2026, and approved a package of resolutions, authorized a hiring offer at the county Recycling Center and awarded a contract for taxiway repairs at the Neil Armstrong Airport.
President John N. Bergman called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. Commissioners Douglas A. Spencer moved to approve the resolutions as presented and Commissioner David Bambauer seconded; the board then distributed the resolutions for each commissioner’s vote and execution. County Administrator Erica L. Preston read the minutes of the April 23 meeting, which the board approved.
Preston reviewed administrative items for the board: the BOCC calendar, an open house for the airport master plan set for May 28 from 4–7 p.m., and updated elected-official photos circulated for review. She told the board that the mental health and recovery service board requested a May resolution recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month, and the board agreed to prepare that resolution. Preston also reported that demolition-type debris had surfaced at the old barn site at the Neil Armstrong Airport and that the Airport Manager is coordinating with the County Engineer to resolve the issue. The board granted the Airport Manager permission to negotiate added cleaning services for the Hangar F lease to determine acceptable terms.
The board entered two brief executive sessions. At 8:56 a.m. commissioners met in executive session to discuss a complaint against a public employee; the board returned to public session at 9:04 a.m. with no action reported. At 9:08 a.m. the board entered executive session to discuss hiring an interview candidate; after returning to open session at 9:10 a.m. Commissioner Bambauer moved to authorize County Administrator Erica L. Preston to coordinate making an offer to a sort line operator candidate at the Recycling Center; Commissioner Spencer seconded and the motion was recorded as approved by the present commissioners.
The clerk presented a list of resolutions for consideration, including: - Resolution #26-170: authorizing the president to file a Program Year 2025 Ohio Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Flexible Grant application on behalf of the Auglaize County Council on Aging. - Resolution #26-171: approving a Wellness Education Program Agreement (Wellworks for You) between Joint Township District Memorial Hospital (JTDMH) and Auglaize County. - Resolution #26-172: authorizing a budget adjustment. - Resolution #26-173: authorizing continuance or termination of tax incentive agreements within active county Enterprise Zones. - Resolution #26-174: setting a public hearing to consider adoption of designating Solid Waste Facilities or the Solid Waste Management District. - Resolution #26-175: documenting receipt of bids for Taxiway Crack Repair, ODOT Project No. 26-19 at Neil Armstrong Airport, and awarding the bid to Henry W. Bergman, Inc.
Commissioners also met later in the day with Mercer County officials as the MEBC consortium board and as the Lake Facility Authority, and they heard the monthly update from County Dog Warden Russ Bailey at 1:30 p.m. With no further business the board adjourned at 2:30 p.m.
The meeting record identifies the board members present as President John N. Bergman, Commissioner (Vice President) Douglas A. Spencer and Commissioner David Bambauer. County Administrator Erica L. Preston and Clerk Bobbi Donovan are recorded in the minutes as participating in meeting administration.
