Auglaize County selects runway alternative 5 for Airport Master Plan, plans May open house

Auglaize County commissioners selected runway alternative 5 for the Airport Master Plan during their April 21, 2026 meeting and said they will hold a public open house in May to present the plan.
County Administrator Erica L. Preston presented multiple runway alternatives and explained trade-offs among safety, village impacts, and landowner effects. The Board concluded that alternative 5 best accomplished the safety objective while shifting impacts away from the village and having the smallest overall effect on landowners, and they selected that option.
Administrator Preston also noted an open house on the Airport Master Plan is planned for May so stakeholders can review alternatives and provide input. There was no extended debate recorded in the minutes about the choice; the record shows the Board moved forward with alternative 5 and the open house planning.
The selection is an early procedural decision in the project; further design, FAA review, and property coordination would follow as the plan advances.
