Board approves consent agenda, greenlights posting of transportation mechanic position

The South Harrison Community School Corporation board approved a large consent agenda April 19 that included personnel recommendations, recognitions, retirements and routine operational items.

Superintendent Dr. Eastridge (S3) reviewed amended personnel listings and told the board, "We'll create and post a mechanic position for our transportation department, and that will be obviously, we'll go through the process of interviews, and we'll report back to the board on that." The consent agenda included employment recommendations such as Alexander O'Dell (attendance liaison recognition), Christina Wood (homebound instructor), Haley Brown (licensed practical nurse at South Central Elementary) and a slate of summer school teachers (Kimberly Bauman, Brooklyn Smith, Reagan Barrett, Sarah Eisen), among others.

The board also reviewed operational items including surplus equipment disposal, cooperative service agreements, a payment to Shamrock Construction for local work, and a request that administration be authorized to award contracts for canopy bases and work at South Central and Corden elementary campuses pending final questions with the architect. The consent agenda was moved and adopted on a 7‑0 vote.

What remains to be decided: the administration said it is still reviewing contractor recommendations and pending answers from an architect before awarding canopy contracts; the board asked to be informed once details are finalized.
