To break a potential tie and produce a clear action the board could implement before registration materials are mailed, a motion was made and seconded to amend the agenda motion by striking option B so the board would vote only on option A (eliminating the $20 graduation fee while otherwise keeping the current schedule). The amendment carried on a voice vote; the board then approved the amended motion on a roll call.
Two board members registered a dissent on the final roll call; the motion carried and the district will publish the updated fee schedule to families before early May registration opens. Board members also discussed outreach to ensure families eligible for waivers know how to apply and asked administration to provide more detailed comparative data and the federal cutoff thresholds for reduced eligibility in future materials.
