Residents urge Henderson council to set aside disputes and improve constituent outreach

Amanda Swartz said she spoke on advice of counsel and asked the council to set aside personal conflicts, calling out blocked constituents on social media and emphasizing that residents seek respectful engagement rather than attacks. “I believe I speak for majority of residents…we've had enough of the squabbling, the lack of respect, the vitriol, and the lack of cohesion amongst council,” she said, asking members to collaborate.
Brian Harris, who identified himself as the leader of a local nonprofit food distribution effort, praised Councilwoman Larson for responsiveness and for reengaging community members, saying local civic engagement and unity are essential. “This community needs to be engaged…we need affordable housing,” Harris added, urging the council to move beyond personal vendettas and focus on community needs.
The council then adjourned the meeting.
