The Fairhope Planning Commission voted to recommend that the City Council approve SR 26.03, a site plan for Foosackley’s and Just Chillin’ on Lot 4 of the Encounter Development at the northeast corner of Highway 181 and Bushel Drive.
Staff presented the plan and noted the project had previously been approved (SR 25.03) and that the city council’s March 10, 2025 approval had lapsed because site-plan approvals expire after 365 days unless reactivated. The planner told commissioners the site provides 48 parking spaces while 40 are required, and that 13 of the 48 spaces are pervious as allowed by the zoning ordinance. Drainage for the development is handled by a shared detention pond on Lot 12 that serves the overall Encounter Development.
Staff also summarized traffic information provided with the resubmittal: an estimated 87 peak trips per day for Foosackley’s and 39 for Just Chillin’ (126 total). The landscape plan and elevations submitted matched the prior approval and staff recommended forwarding the site plan to city council with a recommendation of approval. No members of the public spoke during the open public hearing.
A commissioner moved to recommend approval of SR 26.03 and the motion was seconded; the commission approved the recommendation by voice vote. The action forwards the resubmitted site plan to the City Council for final action.
