Diamant cited the borough’s peace-and-good-order provisions in Chapter 170 and said the ordinance grants a right to quiet until 7 a.m.; he asked the police department and council to enforce Chapter 170, rescind any special waivers that allow early pickups, and stop private garbage trucks from operating so early in residential areas.
"We don't deserve to sleep until 7 a.m., would this be okay on Wilson Street?" Diamant asked, pressing council to act. The Chair asked Diamant to provide his contact information for staff follow-up. Diamant and the Chair also discussed routing his information to the appropriate staff person for investigation and possible enforcement.
The council did not take immediate formal action during the meeting; the Chair asked staff to follow up with the resident.
