City staff report natatorium construction progress; pool fills and testing completed

City staff provided a monthly update on construction of the YMCA natatorium at the March 16 council meeting.
Stuart, a city staff member who presented the update, described recent work on concrete floors and decking, installation of precast panels to improve contractor access, and finishing tasks. He said the competition pool was filled the week of March 2, held about 155,000 gallons, passed a leakage test within expected evaporation tolerance, and was subsequently drained to allow sponge blasting and surface finishing.
Stuart said the next critical-path items include completion of sponge blasting and erection of scaffolding to reach the rafters; he said scaffolding is scheduled to be erected on April 12. He also noted that final deck pours and inspection timing will determine whether finishing happens later this week or in the next few days depending on weather and inspections.
No formal action was required for the update; staff will continue work toward the project schedule and keep the council apprised.
