The City Council on June 17 approved Resolution 2025-0617 authorizing the mayor to sign the 5311 Program Agreement between the City of Schuyler and the Nebraska Department of Transportation to secure federal and state funding for rural public transportation in fiscal year 2026.
Council member Kasik moved to approve the resolution; Council member Svoboda seconded and the motion passed unanimously. City Clerk Joan Mejstrik told the council that although an agreement had been signed for 2026–2027, the transit budget has since been cut by about 30% and the resolution as approved covers only the 2026 year.
The minutes record approval of the resolution and note the budget cut; they do not include a detailed breakdown of the revised transit budget or program-level service changes.
