Worth County supervisors approve $20,783.81 in drainage claims and a slate of routine motions

The Worth County Board of Supervisors approved $20,783.81 in drainage claims and a series of routine administrative motions during its May 4, 2026 meeting.
Supervisor Mark Smeby moved to approve the agenda and the April 27, 2026 minutes; A.J. Stone seconded and the motion carried. The board then approved drainage claims totaling $20,783.81 that covered professional services, publications, repairs and beaver control across multiple drainage districts. Payees named in the claims included Bolton & Menk Inc., Northwood Anchor Inc., Agrivia PLLC, Helgeson Drainage Inc., Aspen Acres and others. The board also approved a DD #17 work order submitted by Dan Benson.
The board approved hiring Gary Brunsvold as a seasonal employee in the secondary roads department at $20.50 per hour, effective May 15, 2026. Supervisors acknowledged manure management plan updates for Nate & Melissa Moretz (ID #69342), Engels Nursery 2 (ID #68500) and Johnson West (ID #58515) and placed the plans on file.
Supervisor Smeby moved and Vice-chairperson A.J. Stone seconded a motion to continue Worth County’s participation in the Central Iowa Detention Center as a non-voting member county; the motion carried. The board also voted to rescind its March 16, 2026 motion to opt out of CSN for fiscal year 2027.
The supervisors approved Customer Preventive Maintenance Agreements with 3E for the county’s three water and wastewater treatment plant generators. The board likewise approved a proposal from the Diamond Jo Casino for small water tower painting and signage. All listed motions were recorded as "motion carried."
The meeting recessed at 8:50 a.m. and reconvened at 8:55 a.m.; the board adjourned at 9:25 a.m.
