Jasper County approves FY2026–27 budget, awards $5.78 million road contract and OKs parcel sales

The Jasper County Board of Supervisors on April 28 adopted the county’s FY2026–27 budget and approved a slate of road projects, property sales and transfers during a regular meeting at 9:30 a.m.
The board adopted Resolution 26-24 approving the FY2026–27 budget after opening and closing a public hearing; the vote was unanimous (Chairman Thad Nearmyer and Supervisors Talsma and Cupples). The board also approved two transfer orders: Transfer Order #1568 for $190,089.72 from the General Basic fund to the Secondary Roads fund (Resolution 26-25), and Transfer Order #1569 for $1,076,558.64 from the Rural Services fund to the Secondary Roads fund (Resolution 26-26). Copies of the resolutions are on file in the Office of the Jasper County Auditor.
In road business, Engineer Mike Frietsch presented five bids for HMA resurfacing with milling on F-48 W. from Polk County east 5.3 miles to the west of Colfax city limits. The bids ranged from $5,781,313.03 to $7,546,055.00; the board awarded Contract 50-C050-154 to InRoads, LLC for $5,781,313.03 (motion by Supervisor Talsma, seconded by Supervisor Cupples; unanimous vote).
The board also approved final plans for base stabilization and seal coat on N. 95th Ave. W. (Project No. L-154—73-50) and W. 76th St. N. (Project No. FM-C050(162)—55-50), and granted two permanent easements for public highway agreements on parcel numbers 13.06.400.008 and 13.06.400.007 owned by the Jeffrey Gordon and Donna May Jackson Revocable Trust, with compensation of $2,023.66 and $1,274.09 respectively. The board approved a revised Resolution 26-23 applying for modifications to the County Farm to Market System, replacing Resolution 25-154; the resolution is on file with the county auditor.
The board also approved the Aging Resources of Central Iowa FY2027–2028 contract effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028.
