Community Development Director Craig Hensley told the Duarte City Council that several local development projects are moving forward.
Hensley said the bank handling the property at 928 Huntington is preparing to move forward with the project after taking the property back and that the 20‑unit townhome project at 1401 Santo Domingo is in the final stages of plan check. On the Wyndham project, Hensley said the prior entitlements had expired and the new development team — now working with a new architect — effectively must start the approval process again.
Hensley also gave brief business updates: tenant improvements are underway at a local restaurant and opening timelines are in flux; staff confirmed Gene’s Grinder would open on Saturday, April 18. Council members praised staff responsiveness to applicants and noted the importance of capturing potential tax revenue from these projects.
The presentation concluded with council members reiterating the need to monitor dust and privacy concerns during demolition and construction and encouraging staff to keep neighbors apprised of mitigation measures.
