The sergeant said there were 63 arrests in March 2026 compared with 37 in March 2025, and that the district attorney accepted and filed 27 cases (up from 18). He reported that 83% of those filed were felonies and that alternatives such as referrals to counseling programs accounted for some cases not submitted to the district attorney. He also noted the county declined a higher number of cases in March 2026 than in March 2025.
To help residents interact with law enforcement, the sergeant introduced a bilingual (English/Spanish) "public safety" card that will be printed and distributed; the card lists non‑emergency guidance, investigator contact information and a step‑by‑step checklist for reporting and follow up. He encouraged residents to cooperate with investigators and to respond to subpoenas to support prosecutions.
Councilmembers thanked the sergeant for the presentation but raised concerns about dispatcher customer service at the station front desk and urged the department to improve reception protocols. The council generally praised patrol presence in parks and other recent public safety shifts.
