219 East Main Street project on track; Center Square Park set for May opening

Borough engineer Mark Rogalski reported to council on April 7 that two downtown projects remain on schedule: work at 219 East Main Street and the renovation of Center Square Park.
Rogalski said contractors are collaborating closely with the borough and that the first-floor portion of 219 East Main Street is on track for completion by July 17, 2026. He added the project team is monitoring audiovisual and security vendors; some original requests to AV contractors require revision and those items are being addressed.
On Center Square Park, Rogalski said construction is progressing smoothly and the park remains on schedule for a planned May opening. He said a walkthrough is expected about two weeks before the opening to confirm final items.
The Public Works & Safety discussion also touched on participation in a multi-municipal SS4A (Safe Streets and Roads for All) project. PEM Arnold noted a prior meeting on the topic in 2024 and confirmed that a map identifying bike lanes and roundabouts in the borough is available to council.
The council also used the Public Works & Safety segment to introduce a police department employee highlight: Detective Temple introduced himself to council. Mayor Anthony thanked Chief Glenny for starting the employee highlight and announced upcoming community events including a Community Watch event on April 13 and a Veterans Breakfast (date to be determined).
