Mechanicsburg Borough Council unanimously approved its consent agenda during the April 7 regular session, adopting routine personnel and administrative items and enacting two resolutions, according to the meeting record.
The council approved minutes from the March 17 meeting and hired Olivia Alander as a community safety officer/public safety officer at $17.00 per hour. The borough accepted the 2024 audit prepared by Hamilton and Musser and approved a transfer of mobile phone services to Verizon.
The consent agenda included several special-event permits: the CROP Walk in Memorial Park (Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, 1–3 p.m.), National Night Out in Memorial Park (Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, 5–8 p.m.), and the downtown Art & Wine Walk (Saturday, May 2, 2026, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.). Council also approved rescheduling the first August meeting to Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, and authorized downtown economic development funds for banners and flags.
Council enacted Resolution 06-2026 declaring April 19–25, 2026, as National Library Week and encouraging residents to visit the Joseph T. Simpson Public Library. The full resolution notes libraries’ roles in lifelong learning, access to digital tools and local partnerships.
Council also enacted Resolution 07-2026 to remove a reserved on-street handicapped parking space at 220 W Allen Street.
The motions to approve the agenda and the consent agenda were made by Councilwoman Agerton and seconded by Councilman Mina; both motions passed unanimously.
During public comment, Kimberly Turner of the Downtown Mechanicsburg Partnership thanked borough staff for approving the Art & Wine Walk permit and reported that last year the council allocated $3,700 for a downtown coupon program; $3,348 was used (about 90% participation), and the remaining funds will be used for other economic-development efforts. Ulli Kleim, representing the Mechanicsburg/West Shore CROP Walk, thanked council for approving that permit. Nancy Kriner asked whether the borough would assume planning responsibility for the Memorial Day Parade; the council did not provide a decision during the meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
