Council awards annual taxicab certificates to two providers with no public opposition

Assistant City Manager/Clerk Rob Light explained that the City Code requires annual awarding of certificates for taxicab services (ride‑sharing excluded) and that two applications were received from existing providers: Reid Taxi and B. Early Cab Service. Mayor Turk opened the public hearing; no one came forward to speak and the hearing was closed. Council voted to award certificates to both applicants; the motion was made and seconded and passed unanimously.
Why it matters: the annual certification process is required by City Code to ensure licensed taxi service; Council retained its discretion to award certificates after a public hearing.
