Parks staff reported a set of facility updates across the city27s park system, saying recent work has improved ADA access, upgraded scoreboard technology and repaired an aging park building under budget.
At the BBC park the two restrooms have been converted to family/ADA restrooms with new toilets, motion-sensor lighting, grab bars and hose bibs for cleaning; adult changing tables have been reordered and are expected to arrive soon, Jerome said. "We now have motion sensor and lighting in both restrooms," he said.
Staff also installed new Daktronics scoreboards on fields 22D6; the boards display home/guest scores, innings and balls/strikes and can be controlled by authorized users from a phone app, which staff said reduces equipment-handling hassles.
Osmond27s building received siding, paint and a new metal sign and the work came in under budget; staff ordered a new shelter with a charcoal roof and cupola that will be photographed on delivery. Finally, Jerome said the Marianne Young Center is seeing strong rental demand and increased programming, with repeat renters and more seniors attending programs.
