Senate adopts resolution honoring Senator Isaiah Knox as he heads to Polk County

The Iowa Senate on the floor adopted Senate Resolution 121 honoring Senator Isaiah Knox for his service representing Des Moines and for his nonprofit leadership.

Senator Blake read the resolution, which recounted Knox’s election in 2022, his work with Urban Dreams, committee service and education background. Blake moved adoption of the measure, and the chair announced the ayes had it.

Colleagues across the aisle used the final debate as a moment of personal thanks. Senator Green said Knox “is a genuine public servant,” noting his ability to connect with community members and build programs through Urban Dreams. Senator Weiner called Knox “one of our most prolific speakers” on the floor and praised his bipartisan efforts, including work to remove lead from pipes. Multiple senators described Knox as a mentor, community builder and a unifier who organized events such as the Senate page dinner.

After adoption, Knox responded, thanking colleagues and recounting the door‑knocking and listening that guided his public service. He said he sought to “make bad bills better” and to work across the aisle, and he acknowledged the personal cost of public life while expressing gratitude for pages, staff and family.

The resolution does not create any policy or fiscal change; it is a formal honorific recognizing Knox’s record and wishing him well in his next role as Polk County supervisor.
