Town of Frederick approves three $2,000 scholarships for local students

The presenter described the award logistics: "$2,000 a year," paid through a foundation named in the transcript as the "Saint Brains Valley Education Foundation," with $1,000 disbursed per semester or term. The presenter said this is the first year the town has used that foundation for payments; previously the town managed payments directly.

Elena Fisher, a senior at Frederick High School and a student athlete, said she will attend Dominican University to play softball and study civil engineering and mathematics and expressed gratitude. Blake Bedlock (self-identified as Bedlock at the podium; an earlier committee list in the record used the spelling "Medlock") said he attends Mead High School, will attend Grand Canyon University to study marketing and noted he operates a mobile detailing business.
The board presented certificates and recessed for approximately 10 minutes for a brief reception to meet the students and families. No further action on the item was required; the resolution implements the scholarship awards as recommended by the committee.
