"We are here tonight to ask the town of Frederick to consider a $5,000 sponsorship to help offset a portion of these costs," Clark said, describing plans to use two gyms and the school cafeteria and to host teams from multiple states.
Town trustees praised the event as an inclusive community opportunity but noted budget constraints. One trustee moved to contribute $2,500 — half of the requested amount — citing the town's limited annual sponsorship budget; a second supported the motion. The board voted 5–0 to approve the $2,500 contribution.
Organizers said eight teams and roughly 100 athletes are expected, and that the schedule includes a Saturday exhibition game featuring local first responders paired against a Denver team. Sponsors will receive recognition on tournament materials and event T-shirts, and the town's support was described by Clark as a way to showcase Frederick's commitment to accessibility and inclusion.
The trustees did not attach additional conditions to the sponsorship; staff said they will follow up with organizers on logistics and next steps.
