Frederick awards three high-school scholarships totaling $2,000 per student

The Town of Frederick Board of Trustees unanimously approved Resolution 26R-15 on April 1 to grant Frederick High School Scholarship Program awards to three students recommended by the scholarship committee.
Staff said there were 26 applicants this year and the committee conducted interviews with nine eligible students. The committee recommended and the board approved awards to Jamieson Franks, Elena Fisher and Blake Bedlock. The scholarship award is $2,000 per year and staff said it will be administered through the Saint Brain Valley Education Foundation and disbursed as $1,000 per semester.
Each student briefly introduced themself at the dais. Jamieson Franks said he attends Mead High School and plans to study data science and business analytics at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Elena Fisher said she is a Frederick High senior who will play softball and study civil engineering and mathematics at Dominican University. Blake Bedlock said he will attend Grand Canyon University to study marketing and described operating a mobile detailing business.
Mayor Kreitz and trustees congratulated the recipients and recessed briefly for certificates and a short reception with families.
