Erie council narrows planning commission applicants to six, schedules April interviews

The Town of Erie council reduced a pool of 11 planning commission applicants and selected six candidates for interviews to fill three open seats.
Council members discussed the quality of the applicant pool and the planning commissions recommendation. To be fair to all applicants, the council asked members to mark their top five choices on tally sheets, and the clerk tabulated results. The clerk announced the council stopped the count at six and said interviews will be scheduled for the April 7 special meeting.
The six candidates named for interviews were Alex Schatz, Laurie Hite, Paul Leaf, Sherry Booth, Tim Burns, and Tanya McKnight. Councilors said they welcomed the large applicant pool and appreciated the planning commissions unanimous recommendation for certain applicants, while noting the need to balance continuity, experience and fresh perspectives on the commission.
