Advisory board ranks four applicants for three seats and will forward recommendation to town clerk

The Tree Advisory Board reviewed four applications for three upcoming vacancies and agreed on a ranked recommendation to forward to the town clerk.
Staff reviewed clerks’ guidance: the board should rank applicants 1–4 and send the rankings to the clerk, who will prepare a resolution for town council on April 28. Board members removed reapplying applicants from discussion where appropriate and then discussed qualifications of the four candidates: Jason, Patty, Leanna Walsh and Cameron Hamlin.
After discussion, the board members present (quorum) recorded rankings with Jason as first, Patty second, Leanna third and Cameron fourth; members agreed these rankings would be submitted to the town clerk using the clerk’s process. Members discussed a potential conflict question raised about an applicant’s employer doing business with the town and concluded the clerk’s office would already have screened for disqualifying conflicts, but they asked staff to confirm if any concerns exist.
Next steps: board members agreed Claudia (staff liaison) or Tom will email the clerk the ranked list so the clerk can prepare the resolution for council consideration. The board noted the terms would run through April 30, 2029, and that members reapplying should voluntarily leave the room when the board discusses applicants in future sessions.
