Plan Commission preview: driveway widths, e-bikes and wetland ordinance updates coming in June

City planning staff told the River Falls Plan Commission they will bring several ordinance updates back to the commission and City Council in June. The items staff identified were: revisions in the housing code addressing driveway width and impervious cover; an ordinance governing e-bikes and e-scooters; and updates to the city's wetland ordinance to align with recommendations from the state Department of Natural Resources related to the municipal MS4 stormwater permit.
Staff said the driveway-width revisions respond to requests from residents who want wider driveways to access multi-car garages and that council asked staff to evaluate impervious-surface and stormwater impacts before final recommendations. The staff member also said the e-bike/e-scooter ordinance and the wetland ordinance changes are expected to be ready for review in June.
Staff invited questions and said they will return the package of ordinance changes at the commission's June 2 meeting for further consideration.
