County corrects drainage reclassification, orders surveys and removal of beaver dam

The Winnebago County Board of Supervisors on April 28 corrected an omission in the 2019 Drainage District 14 reclassification report and authorized follow-up maintenance and engineering work for other drainage concerns.
At a public hearing, Collin Klingbeil, Engineer, said the 2019 reclassification failed to include Lateral 4A of DD 14. Supervisor Durby moved to approve the corrected reclassification report; Supervisor Smith seconded the motion and the Board voted unanimously to approve the correction.
Kris Oswald, Drainage Clerk, reported a beaver dam in DD 2 on property owned by Tom Kingland and said he will contact Helgeson Drainage to arrange removal. The Board did not record a formal motion for removal but directed the Drainage Clerk to proceed with contractor contact.
Resident Laurence Doden requested a survey of the DD 35 Lateral 12 waterway. The Supervisors, acting as trustees for drainage districts, said they will appoint an engineer to survey the lateral and produce recommendations for repairs, if any are needed.
The outcomes documented in the minutes include: opening and closing a public hearing for the DD 14 reclassification, formal approval of the corrected DD14 Lat 4 and 4A report, and Board direction to pursue both dam removal and a DD35 survey.
