Shakopee council approves consent agenda, authorizes equipment purchases and contract extensions

On Jan. 6 the Shakopee City Council approved its consent agenda, authorizing multiple equipment purchases, contract extensions, license approvals and scheduling a public hearing for street reconstruction.
The Shakopee City Council unanimously approved its consent agenda on Jan. 6, authorizing a range of routine purchases, contracts and license actions.
Staff member Reynolds read the consent items, which included authorization of designated individuals to perform city banking transactions; purchase of four John Deere front mowers, two John Deere gators, three John Deere tractors, a Chevrolet Equinox and a Chevrolet pickup truck; adoption of the 2026 fee schedule; designation of the city’s official newspaper; extension of the 2026 tree‑pruning contract; approval of a 2026 ash tree removal contract; and setting a public hearing date for the street reconstruction plan. Reynolds also read approval of change order No. 3 for Canterbury Commons internal roadway improvements and a resolution to dissolve the US Highway 169 corridor coalition, R2026Tech010 to extend city‑issued THC licenses until the state issues its licensing, approval of the Dec. 16, 2025 city council minutes, a contract proposal from Stantec Consulting for Lions Park parking lot improvements, recognition of the Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative's Operation Roundup award, and approval of off‑sale and Sunday liquor licenses for SM Liquor LLC doing business as Merwin Liquor.
A motion to approve the consent agenda was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The council moved on to other business and later recessed to the Economic Development Authority meeting and then returned to consider the Jackson Township AUAR update.
