Perkiomen Valley board reviews summer programs, curriculum updates and flags low kindergarten registration

The district also plans to open Stage 1 curriculum guides for European history and global studies for public 30-day review ahead of a planned Stage 1 approval in June; the committee recommended Savas for European history and TCI for global studies.
Dr. Nicholson told the board that kindergarten registration remains lower than expected at every building and that the administration recommends pausing immediate hiring for elementary teachers who were linked to ERIP and leave replacements until enrollment stabilizes in the coming weeks. He said administrators would monitor trends and return with updated recommendations.
Board members asked clarifying questions about curriculum alignment and about whether summer programming and staffing decisions would be affected by the enrollment trend. Dr. Nicholson said staff would follow up with answers and that the situation will be revisited as numbers firm up.
Next steps: Curriculum Stage 1 materials will be available for public inspection; the district will continue to monitor kindergarten enrollment and report back to the board.
