Lyme Township resident urges Huron County commissioners to act on SB 52; prosecutor questions authority

Seaman said "16 townships have signed it" when describing the number of townships that have adopted SB 52 resolutions and told the board that New Haven was planning a special meeting to sign. He also said the only township choosing not to restrict was Wakeman and asked the board to take action for Lyme Township.
Assistant Prosecutor Randal Strickler responded that he "isn't sure the board has the legal authority to do that," indicating legal uncertainty about whether the county commissioners can act on behalf of a township on this matter. The board took no formal action during the meeting on Seaman's request.
The exchange occurred during the designated public-comment period; no additional discussion or votes on SB 52 took place in this session.
