Bryan ISD renews Skyward support contract after multi‑year rollout

Bryan ISD trustees approved renewal of the district’s Skyward enterprise support contract, a vendor the district has used to combine student information and business (finance and HR) systems.
Jennifer Lemmons, director of data services, led the presentation and described the district’s transition to Skyward and an intensive training and rollout effort. Lemmons said the implementation team logged hundreds of training and support hours for teachers and staff and established rolling “live help” sessions for the first weeks of school. “We have spent literally, this is no exaggeration, over 500 hours on Zoom learning about Skyward and all that it contains,” she said.
Lemmons told trustees the renewal estimate for the current year came in about $14,000 below initial projections. The board approved the annual support renewal amount of $278,041 by motion; the motion passed on a voice vote recorded as “aye.”
Trustees and staff said they expect Skyward to improve data access for schools and reduce ad hoc report requests from data services by giving end users more direct reporting tools; staff also said online employee verification and online enrollment modules are upcoming launches.
The motion to approve the Skyward renewal was made and seconded on the floor; trustees did not record a roll‑call vote in the transcript beyond the unanimous voice affirmation.
Next steps include launching Skyward online enrollment for incoming families on May 18 and implementing an employee portal for staff to verify emergency contacts in the fall.
