Commissioners approve transfers, appropriation adjustments and domestic-violence funding certifications

At its Oct. 28 meeting, the Huron County Board of Commissioners approved several routine fiscal actions including fund transfers, appropriation adjustments, adoption of the county IRS 125 cafeteria plan for 2026 and certification of victim-service funding for calendar year 2026.
The Board approved a $4,000 transfer from the Title Fund #132 to the General Fund to satisfy a request from the Clerk of Courts. The Board also approved a $4,000 transfer from the General Fund contingencies account to the Clerk of Courts #017 account to support an additional legal clerk position following a retirement.
To meet upcoming debt obligations, the Board authorized transferring $401,950.20 from the General Fund to the County Bond Retirement Fund #205. A separate transfer of $23,105.00 from the Landfill Fund #500 to the Landfill Bonds Fund #520 was approved to support bond payments.
The Board also approved intra-department appropriation adjustments for the jail account to reallocate funds for PERS, hospitalization, utilities and unemployment. Commissioners adopted a slightly revised IRS 125 cafeteria plan for 2026 and appointed the HR Director as plan administrator after review by HR, the Auditor and the County Prosecutor.
Finally, the Board certified applications from The Miriam House (Catholic Charities) and Safe Harbour Domestic Violence Shelter for 2026 funding, directing the Huron County Auditor to pay semiannual distributions split 50/50, and estimating total receipts for the year at approximately $12,000. All listed motions passed on roll-call votes.
