Huron County to seek bids for federally funded Peru West bridge; bid opening set for Dec. 18

Huron County commissioners voted Oct. 28 to authorize advertising for bids on the Peru West Section Line Road Bridge design-build project (HUR-CR 06502.11; PID 119355), accepting a recommendation from County Engineer Lee Tansey.
Tansey told the Board construction is expected next year and that the project is “one hundred percent federal funding.” The Board directed that a Notice to Bidders be posted on the county website and in a newspaper of general circulation; bids will be opened publicly on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.
The formal advertisement requires prequalified contractors only; bid documents must be purchased from the County Engineer for a $20 fee, and only ODOT-prequalified firms may submit proposals. The notice also states Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements apply and sets an intended project completion date of Nov. 6, 2026.
County officials said bid documents will be available from the Huron County Engineer’s office and that the Board reserves the right to waive irregularities or reject any or all bids. The Board approved the request unanimously.
