One Digital: Huron County's health-insurance renewal holds at 2%; adding Board of DD would raise rate to 2.87%

At the Sept. 2 meeting the Board of Huron County Commissioners heard a report from One Digital on the county's employee health-insurance renewal.
Ashley Grisez of One Digital said Huron County received the best renewal rate in CEBCO, with a 2% renewal for both the PPO and HSA plans. One Digital presented an alternate plan that would include employees from the Huron County Board of Developmental Disabilities; that option would raise the renewal rate to 2.87% for the county.
Commissioner Tom Dunlap asked what the county's savings would be under different options. HR Director Lara Hozalski said a decision is requested by Sept. 12, 2025. Commissioner Bradley R. Mesenburg pressed for more detail on potential high-cost claimants, saying the board would not want to bring additional risk to the pool without data. One Digital and representatives of the Board of DD were asked to gather FormFire/self-report information and return it to the county before the decision date.
Action requested: the board set a Sept. 12 deadline for the county to decide whether to add Board of DD staff to county coverage; One Digital and county HR were tasked with collecting claimant self-report information to inform that decision.
