Huron County awards truck outfitting bid and approves disposal of obsolete county property

Huron County on Sept. 16 awarded the bid to Kalida Truck Equipment, Walbridge, Ohio, for outfitting a tandem-axle cab and chassis at $107,500. Bids were also received from Henderson Products, Inc. at $110,143.26. Commissioner Harry Brady moved to award the contract, and Commissioner Tom Dunlap seconded; the board recorded aye votes from both members.
Huron County Engineer Lee Tansey told the board the vehicle already is in county possession and will be outfitted as a new snow truck. Tansey added that it likely "will not see snow this season," reflecting the timing of the outfitting relative to the winter season.
Separately, the board adopted a resolution to dispose of obsolete county property, specifically noting a nonworking paper shredder from Juvenile Court that cannot be repaired. The resolution cites Ohio Revised Code section 307.12(I) as authority for disposal. That motion likewise passed on a 2-0 vote and directs further matters to the Huron County Engineer’s office for coordination where relevant.
