The Carlisle County fiscal court opened a public hearing on Budget Amendment 56 and, after taking questions from the public, closed the hearing and approved the amendment on a second reading by voice vote.
"Most of that's FEMA money," Committee member (S5) said during the public hearing when staff described the amendment's main inflows, a characterization staff confirmed when answering follow-up questions. The treasurer and staff said the amendment did not represent an unusual departure from expected receipts and that the majority of the change reflected FEMA reimbursements and routine general-fund tax receipts.
Following the public hearing, a commissioner moved to adopt the amendment on second reading; the court seconded the motion and adopted Budget Amendment 56 by voice vote. The court recorded no roll-call tally in the transcript; staff said the amendment would be implemented and reflected in upcoming budget reporting.
The court will publish the amendment as required and incorporate the changes into financial reports for the next quarter.
