Huron County commissioners approve routine business: claims, personnel change, travel and school agreement sign-off

At its July 8 meeting the Huron County Board of Commissioners handled several routine but administratively important items.
The Board adopted the claims schedule and instructed the Huron County Auditor to issue warrants for Payment Batches #405716, as required by state law. Commissioners also accepted the resignation of Michael Armstrong from his Maintenance Worker II post in Buildings and Grounds, effective July 15, 2025; Commissioner Harry Brady commented the Board regretted losing a skilled worker.
The Board approved travel for Commissioner Harry Brady to attend CEBCO Wellness IQ in Independence, Ohio on July 21, 2025, and signed a Satisfaction of Lien after Scott and Laura Ulery Hipp paid off $4,586.25 under the CHIP program.
On a separate item concerning real estate, Assistant Prosecutor Randal Strickler reported he had emailed an updated purchase agreement from Norwalk City Schools and was authorized by the Board to approve the contract and confirm acreage and Phase 1 cost estimates so the School Board could proceed at its meeting. The Board also announced a July 17 building tour at 306 South Norwalk Road and voted to cancel the Aug. 26 meeting for lack of quorum.
The Board entered executive session under ORC 121.22(G)(1) at 9:42 a.m. to discuss personnel matters and returned with no action taken; the meeting adjourned at 9:58 a.m.
