Huron County accepts $1.05M state CHIP award, selects Great Lakes CAP to manage CDBG allocation

The board accepted a $1,050,000 PY2025 Community Housing Impact and Preservation (CHIP) grant from the Ohio Department of Development and selected Great Lakes Community Action Partnership to administer PY2026 CDBG allocation services.
The Huron County Board of Commissioners on March 10 accepted PY2025 CHIP grant agreements (25CHIP-1BJ-25HOME and 25CHIP-1BJ-25CDBG) from the Ohio Department of Development totaling $1,050,000. Commissioner James R. Morgan moved and Commissioner Tom Dunlap seconded the resolution; both voted aye with Commissioner Harry Brady absent.
Separately the board selected Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) to perform administration services for Huron County’s PY2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocation program. The services include application and environmental preparation, project management, reporting and fair housing implementation. The selection followed a request for qualifications/proposals process in which the board received a single responsive submission.
Board documents indicate grant agreements and the selection are on file with the county. The board authorized signatures and contract execution where required.
