Greater Latrobe board approves curricula, contracts, personnel and policy updates

The Greater Latrobe School District Board of Education unanimously approved a package of curriculum agreements, contract modifications, policy updates, personnel recommendations and other routine business during its March 17 meeting.
Key approvals included:
- RES 128: Approval of an AOPA Foundation, Inc. High School Aviation STEM Curriculum license agreement for the 2026-2027 school year.
- RES 129: Approval of a six-year agreement with Amplify for CKLA textbooks and digital/online English language arts curriculum.
- RES 130: Approval to post the district Special Education Plan on the district website and make it available for review in central administration for 30 days beginning April 1, 2026.
- RES 131: Approval of an ISE (International Student Exchange) foreign exchange student placement for 2026-2027 (student listed as Daniel Benes, Czech Republic).
- RES 133/134/135: Acceptance of the treasurer's report for Jan. 1 '026 and approval of payment of bills; acceptance of gifts and grants including $1,000 from The Grable Foundation (Re-Imagining High School) and $2,000 from Little Bet United Way (Kindergarten Transition Program).
- RES 136: Facilities change order CO #01 for Island Contracting, Inc. (window modifications) adding $9,563.00 to the Junior High School Roof & Metal Wall Panel Replacement Project; funding source: Series 2025 Bond Issuance.
- RES 137: Approval of a Memorandum of Understanding with Laurel Highlands Youth Cycling to operate an NCIA-affiliated mountain bike team composed of district students; LHYC will manage the team and assume all program costs; the team is not PIAA-sanctioned and the district has no financial obligation.
- RES 138: Approval of additional DMJ Transportation school bus and van drivers for the 2025-2026 school year (names read into the record).
- RES 139/140: Adoption of multiple policy changes (policies 006, 204, 218.1, 610, 611, 626, 805, 805.1, 805.2) and approval of an Apptegy Master Services Agreement effective July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.
- RES 141: Approval of the administrative team's recommended professional personnel pending required submissions under the PA School Code.
Most motions were offered or called by Chair Yelayna Rossi and carried by unanimous voice vote (9-0) unless otherwise recorded. The minutes record movers and seconders for many items and list contract amounts, donor amounts and effective dates where applicable.
The board also appointed Ed Sobota to the Greater Latrobe School Authority Board effective April 1, 2026 (RES 127).
