Waterloo council confirms multiple department appointments and staff raises

The Waterloo City Council moved to confirm a series of personnel appointments and administrative actions at its May 4 meeting. The mayor read a slate of nominations and the council gave consent by roll call for appointments including JR Landak as director of public works, Nathan Kriegel as deputy director of public works, Roberto Robrider as subdivision and zoning administrator, Sarah Craig as collector and budget officer, Sarah Dutsch as community relations coordinator and Trisha Hoglund as human resources coordinator.

In the same package of business the council approved annual and managerial raises of 3.75% for several named staff members, and it approved a one-year renewal of the city's digital marketing contract with Dale Creatives (05/01/2026–04/30/2027) at a listed rate of $1,875 per month, with a 15% tourism-bureau discount that lowers the effective monthly cost to $1,593.75.

Council members recorded affirmative roll-call responses as the mayor asked for consent on each appointment and personnel item. No motions failed during the appointments and personnel block; the presiding official announced motions as passed after roll call.

The measures take effect as part of the city’s routine administrative staffing and contracting cycle; council members said some items had been reviewed in committee prior to the full meeting. Party or partisan affiliation was not stated during the roll calls.
