Board approves subdivision plats, vacates an easement and honors retiring county staff

Staff recommended approval of the Forest Rim Estates final plat (PF25‑004), a subdivision of about 31.15 acres into 10 lots. Planning staff reported that the project meets land‑development code standards and that referrals from water resources, public health and fire were addressed through conditions including a required cistern and sprinkler systems; Cherry Creek School District requested a cash‑in‑lieu payment for school site dedication. After a brief public comment period from adjacent landowners raising aquifer and road‑maintenance concerns, commissioners approved the final plat with conditions.
The board also approved an easement vacation for a portion of a 20‑foot drainage easement at a Tallgrass Self Storage site (VAC25‑001) to align with an approved administrative site plan, and conditionally approved the Mountain View Gardens Track 12 minor subdivision (PM26‑001) to create four single‑family lots; staff noted the applicant will record an operation and maintenance manual for stormwater measures, execute a subdivision improvement agreement and address cash‑in‑lieu requirements.
Earlier in the meeting the board read resolutions honoring Lirley (Lily/Lourly) Martin of the assessor’s office for more than 34 years of service and Ron Karl for more than 30 years as county attorney. Commissioners and staff spoke — and Ron Karl gave brief remarks thanking colleagues — before the board adopted the resolutions.
Commissioner Campbell read a proclamation designating April 2026 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. A representative from the Eighteenth Judicial District Attorney’s Office accepted the proclamation and described the workload of the district’s Special Victims Unit and recent filing statistics.
No appealable or final code changes resulted from those items beyond the recorded approvals and the standard recording conditions for plats and easement vacations.
