The Huron County Board of Commissioners approved routine financial and procurement measures during its March 24 regular session, including a claims register and two contract awards.
Commissioner James R. Morgan moved to approve the Claims Register for Payment Batches #421212, a resolution required under Ohio Revised Code 305.10; Commissioner Harry Brady seconded the motion and the measure passed unanimously. The board then reviewed competitive bids for county purchases and roadwork.
On the purchase of a tandem-axle cab and chassis truck, the board awarded the contract to Valley Freightliner, Inc., Parma, Ohio, for $154,680.00. The board specified that further coordination for the vehicle purchase would be handled through the Huron County Engineer’s Office. Later, after reviewing bids for the New State Road Asphalt Repairs project, the commissioners awarded the work to A.J. Riley, Inc., Norwalk, Ohio, for $229,700.00. Other bidders and their amounts were recorded in the bid opening: Erie Blacktop, Inc. ($230,825.00); Sarver Paving Co. ($236,263.00); Melway Paving Co., Inc. ($243,475.00); and Gerken Paving, Inc. ($254,505.00).
All formal motions recorded in the meeting carried by unanimous vote: Aye — Harry Brady; Aye — Tom Dunlap; Aye — James R. Morgan. The board directed the County Engineer’s Office to manage project implementation and any further procurement details.
The meeting also included routine travel approvals and administrative authorizations (see meeting minutes). The board recessed for an executive session later in the morning and adjourned at 11:04 a.m.
