Huron County commissioners award bridge, culvert and paving contracts and set asphalt bid schedule

Huron County Commissioners on Feb. 17 approved a package of road and bridge contracts and authorized a new bid solicitation for asphalt repairs.
The board awarded the Sand Hill Road Bridge Replacement project to Senghas Construction of LaGrange, Ohio, the low bidder at $386,953.50, and directed the Huron County Engineer’s Office to coordinate further matters related to the award. Commissioners later awarded the 2026 Chip and Seal Phase 1 contract to Sarver Paving Company of Ashland, Ohio, under the low bid of $1,014,589.00. The board also awarded the Hartland Center Road Culvert Replacement to Denes Concrete, Inc. (low bid $329,648.00).
Commissioner James R. Morgan moved the motions to adopt the resolutions for the awards; Harry Brady seconded each motion. Each resolution passed by roll call (Aye — Harry Brady; Aye — Tom Dunlap; Aye — James R. Morgan).
The board authorized advertising and letting bids for the New State Asphalt Repairs Project, with bid documents to be obtained from the Huron County Engineer and an advertised bid opening on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 9:05 a.m. The Engineer’s office listed a targeted project completion date of June 19, 2026 and specified prevailing wage compliance and bond requirements in the bid notice.
Separately, the commissioners accepted the Annual County Highway System Mileage Certification submitted by the Huron County Engineer.
Each procurement item was approved by motion and roll call during the regular session; the board recorded no dissents on the items.
