Jackson County commissioners approve multiple appropriations, contracts and proclamations

The Jackson County Board of Commissioners on April 1 approved a series of appropriations, transfers and resolutions, voting 2-0 with Donnie Willis recorded as absent.
Jon Hensler, Vice President, moved and Paul Haller, Commissioner, seconded approval of the meeting minutes from March 25, 2026. The board approved an appropriation of $11,655.97 to Unclaimed Monies (725-5200-5305.00) and a transfer of $1,569.02 from 101-2600-5713.50 to 205-0007-4002.00 for refunds and reimbursements; that same $1,569.02 was appropriated to a Spay & Neuter Grant (205-3200-5405.00).
The board also approved a $606,594.00 appropriation for project expenses (354-1300-5305.00), a $230,000.00 appropriation for bridge consulting services (202-2900-5358.00) and a $100,000.00 appropriation for health insurance (202-2700-5347.00). County vouchers were approved for payment during the session.
In recorded resolutions, the board approved: Resolution 58-26, an agreement between Job & Family Services and Ohio MHAS-Cornell Abraxas Group, LLC; Resolution 59-26, a Provision of Child Placement Agreement with The Village Network; Resolution 60-26, a subgrant agreement with the Gallia-Vinton Educational Service Center; and Resolution 61-26, creation of a new fund (Fund 354) for runway edge lighting at the Jackson County Airport. The board also approved new fund requests for the PY25 CDBG grant (Fund 308) and PY25 CDBG Critical Infrastructure grant (Fund 309), and Resolution 64-26, a CDBG residential public infrastructure memorandum of understanding with the City of Wellston.
The commissioners proclaimed April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month under Resolution 65-26 and approved Resolution 66-26, the July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027 contract for public defense services with the Office of the Ohio Public Defender. Resolution 67-26 authorized a road name change in Liberty Township, renaming segments of Whaleytown Road to FB Alley Road and Stevens Road as presented by Engineer Taylor.
All motions on the agenda were moved by Jon Hensler and seconded by Paul Haller, with roll calls recorded as Mr. Haller: Yes; Mr. Hensler: Yes; Mr. Willis: Absent.
