Legislature adopts May 5 agenda, waives multiple items and appends resolution to journal
Summary
The presiding officer and the majority leader carried a series of procedural motions May 5 to adopt the session agenda, delay or waive several numbered agenda items, excuse absent senators and append Resolution No. 171-38 COR to the session journal; the clerk reported a quorum.
The legislature convened May 5 and the presiding officer recognized the majority leader, who moved to adopt the legislative session agenda dated 05/05/2026; there were no objections and the motion carried. "I move to adopt the Legislative session agenda dated 05/05/2026," the majority leader said.
The majority leader then moved several procedural changes to streamline the day's business. He moved to delay agenda items 2 through 5 and to waive item 6; both motions were put to the body with the presiding officer asking for objections and, in each case, the transcript records that none were heard and the motions carried. Later in the roll call and subsequent recognition the majority leader also moved to waive agenda items 8 through 13 and 15 through 19; those motions likewise carried with no objection recorded.
At the presiding officer's request the clerk conducted roll call and reported a quorum present. The clerk read member names and responses, after which the clerk stated, "Mister speaker, there is a quorum."
The majority leader also moved to append "Resolution number 171-38 COR" to the session journal. The presiding officer again asked for objections and, hearing none, stated that the motion carried. The transcript records the resolution number in the format "1 7 1 dash 38 COR." The journal entry was appended as moved.
