District audit returns unmodified opinion; ISBE award presented to district leader

Auditors presenting to the Evergreen Park ESD 124 Board delivered a high-level summary of the district’s fiscal year 06/30/2025 audit and related financial reporting.

"It was another successful audit," audit principal McKay Thorpe said, noting the district received an ISB/AFR finance-profile score of 3.9 and an unmodified (clean) audit opinion for the year. Thorpe walked the board through the audit opinion page, the management discussion and analysis narrative, the balance sheet and income-statement pages, and the notes to the financial statements, stressing that the auditors found no issues rising to the level of qualified opinions or reportable internal-control failures.

Thorpe also summarized the management letter structure—informational items, recommended best practices and operational items—and encouraged board members and staff to follow up with the district business office for any detailed questions.

Separately, the board recognized Megan Loch with an Illinois State Board of Education award of excellence for her work in student support services and special-education leadership. Rebecca Currell presented the award and summarized Loch’s background in program development, classroom and case-management experience, and contributions to the district. Loch thanked colleagues and family and noted the recognition reflected shared work across the district.

The auditor said written materials and the full audit packet are available and urged trustees to contact district business staff with follow-up questions.
